  • Beauty, flow and elegance are all encompassing factors in the elements of this timeless dance form. Ballet is the classical dance that can be mastered alone or used as a technical base for other forms of dance such as Contemporary and Jazz. Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness, with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs, and execution of turnout. This class improves the flow of movement from the arms through the torso while maintaining a very disciplined environment. Traditional barre work, center work, and combinations are included in class.

  • Pointe is a technique of classical ballet where students wear special Pointe shoes which help them balance and perform with all of the weight of the body on their fully extended foot or tips of the toes. Dancing on Pointe enhances the dancer’s ability to look weightless. Pointe is a technique that requires an advanced proficiency of skills in ballet. To be eligible to join Pointe, students will need to complete an assessment with our Pointe teachers to determine their readiness and correct level.

  • An exciting and ever-evolving dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, passion, and life. Jazz brings energy and life to all those who dance it. Classes explore body isolations, and encourage individual expression and the development of personal style. Jazz can be powerful and percussive, or expressive and lyrical. Classes teach basic jazz dance technique with an emphasis on proper execution of isolations, rhythms, and styles performed to a variety of music.

  • Classes emphasize the development and strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology, highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. Tap focuses on rhythms and intricate footwork, creating a percussion instrument out of the dancer’s feet. Just like jazz vocalists who add rhythms to music by scatting, tappers add their voice by “scatting” with their feet. Rhythm tap is a broad category that encompasses the hoofing styles of current stars such as Savion Glover and the late Gregory Hines, where Broadway tap is highlighted in the “show-stopping” numbers peppered into Musical Theatre, such as Anything Goes and 42nd Street.

  • Developed by José Arcadio Limón. In his choreography, Limón spoke to the complexities of human life as experienced through the body. Limón contemporary dances feature large, visceral gestures — reaching, bending, pulling, grasping — to communicate emotion.

  • Developed by Lester Iradell Horton. Horton developed his own approach to dance that incorporated diverse elements including Native American Folk Dance, Japanese arm gestures, Javanese and Balinese isolations for the upper body, particularly the eyes, head and hands. Horton also included Afro-Caribbean elements, like hip circles. The technique emphasizes a whole body, anatomical approach to dance that includes flexibility, strength, coordination and body and spatial awareness to enable unrestricted, dramatic freedom of expression.

  • Aerial Silk is a type of performance in which one or more dancers perform acrobatics while hanging from a special fabric. The dancer will climb the suspended fabric to wrap, suspend, fall, swing, and spiral their bodies in and out of various positions. This is a one-and-a-half hour long class limited to an enrollment of 14 students to ensure each student gets individualized and safe instruction on how to perform Aerial Dance on hanging silk scarves.

  • A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B, and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Hip hop encompasses movement that has elements of poppin', locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Please do not wear street shoes into class.

  • Commercial is dance style that draws from many other dance disciples (such as jazz, street, modern and hip hop). Commercial dance is frequently performed in pop artist live shows, music videos, movies and sporting events. It is commonly known as 'street dance' and is a super fun, upbeat, and entertaining style of dance to learn. It combines self-expression, energy, and performance.

  • Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character and its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics. This class differs from gymnastic training through both poise and the body posture used to integrate it within dance routines.

Music Lessons / Music Classes

Music Lessons are offered in Piano, Guitar, Flute and Voice on a weekly basis. Schedules are subject to instructor availability and must be enrolled through the school’s front desk. Private lessons are available in half hour and full hour sessions.

  • We believe that private instruction is the best way for anyone to learn how to play an instrument. The one-on-one instruction means that students are given instruction that best suits how they as an individual learn. Private lessons also mean that they are able to learn the type of music they personally are most interested in. Also with private lessons a teacher can focus 100% of their attention on that one student to ensure that things such as hand positioning, posture or understanding of a particular concept are correct. If a student has a particular difficulty in one area, the teacher can work on it without hampering the progress of a class of students and alternatively if a student is excelling in one area, the teacher can move on. Our music teachers have university training in the instruments that they teach. They are all active performers in bands and music groups. We pride ourselves that our instructors are working professionals in their field of expertise. We teach students from beginners to very advanced.

  • For students who love to sing and wish to improve their vocal skills, the group voice class is a great introduction to vocal training. This class is ideal for younger vocal students who are not ready yet for private lessons or do not have the confidence to perform individually/solo on stage.

Class Level Guidelines:

Registration in Level 3 and 4 classes is subject to teacher approval.

  • LEVEL 1 – Beginning Technique

  • LEVEL 2 – Beginner-Intermediate Technique

  • LEVEL 3 – Intermediate-Advanced Technique

  • LEVEL 4 – Advanced Technique

As students move up in age levels from Intro to Junior to Apprentice to Senior, their level number may decrease as other students at the higher age level will naturally be more advanced.

The progress of each student is monitored continuously throughout the year by the teachers, who reserve the right to change a student’s level when appropriate. A student may be placed in a different level when changing between dance styles or disciplines. Students do not automatically advance to the next level at the end of each year.
